Udaipur, February 9, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the redesign, upgradation and development of Rabindra Nath Tagore (RNT) Hospital in Udaipur, aiming to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure in Zinc City.
The MoU was signed between Arun Misra, CEO and Whole-time Director of Hindustan Zinc, and Vipin Mathur, Principal of RNT Medical College, in the presence of senior officials. As part of the initiative, Hindustan Zinc has also committed to supporting the establishment of a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) at the hospital.
Under the collaboration, Hindustan Zinc will support the preparation of a comprehensive master plan to transform RNT Hospital into a future-ready, multi-specialty healthcare facility equipped with advanced technology and an environment conducive to research and development. The initiative is expected to improve access to advanced and affordable medical care for residents of Udaipur and neighbouring districts, enabling timely diagnosis and treatment.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Misra said that access to quality healthcare is fundamental to building stronger communities. He stated that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting lifesaving medical infrastructure in Rajasthan and ensuring advanced care is accessible to all.
A key component of the project is the introduction of a modern Cath Lab designed for minimally invasive, image-guided cardiac procedures. The facility will support critical interventions such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, stent placement and emergency management of heart attacks, helping improve patient outcomes and response times.
Vipin Mathur said that the association between Hindustan Zinc and RNT Hospital has been longstanding, with the company providing consistent support to the Cardiology Centre and other departments. He said the new MoU marks a significant step towards establishing a Cath Lab within the centre.
The initiative also aims to position Udaipur as a medical tourism destination by leveraging the enhanced infrastructure and capabilities of the upgraded hospital. It reflects Hindustan Zinc’s broader commitment to social impact through support for healthcare, education, women empowerment, skill development, sustainable livelihoods, sports and environmental initiatives.
Hindustan Zinc’s community development programmes currently reach over 23 lakh people across more than 2,300 villages, focusing on long-term impact through improved access to essential services, mobile health initiatives and investments in public infrastructure.
