Shimla, July 3 — Monsoon fury continues to grip Himachal Pradesh, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a flood alert in six districts: Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Solan. The department has also issued a Yellow Alert for today and tomorrow, followed by an Orange Alert for July 5 to July 9, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across various regions of the state.

Rain Batters Himachal, Disrupts Daily Life
After overnight downpours, several areas including Shimla, Nahan, and Una witnessed substantial rainfall. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Pachhad (Sirmaur) at 133 mm, followed by Barsar (Hamirpur) at 92 mm, Jubbarhatti (Shimla) at 59 mm, Una at 55 mm, and Nahan at 42 mm. Constant rain has led to a dip in minimum temperatures and widespread disruption of normal life.
Roads Blocked, Manali-Kelang Route Cut Off
In Kullu, flash floods near Snow Gallery disrupted the Manali-Kelang road early this morning. Restoration work is underway by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Until then, traffic is being diverted through the Rohtang Pass. In Mandi, several cloudburst incidents on Monday night caused extensive destruction, leaving 11 dead and 34 missing. Rescue operations by NDRF, SDRF, and local teams are in full swing.
Damage Since June 20: 63 Dead, 261 Roads Blocked
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, since June 20, rain-related incidents have claimed 63 lives, injured 109 people, and caused massive infrastructural damage. As of Thursday morning:
