Strong Weather Systems Behind the Rain Revival

According to meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran, the renewed spell of rain is due to the active monsoon trough and two cyclonic circulation systems currently influencing the state’s weather. These systems are expected to maintain momentum for the next four days, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall predicted across multiple districts.

The districts under heavy rainfall alert today include:

  • Jabalpur

  • Sheopur

  • Morena

  • Narmadapuram

  • Betul

  • Narsinghpur

  • Chhindwara

  • Pandhurna

  • Sagar

  • Damoh

  • Seoni

  • Mandla

  • Balaghat

  • Dindori

  • Anuppur

Other regions may experience thunderstorms, light rain, and gusty winds, as the system gradually covers wider areas.

Widespread Rainfall Reported on Tuesday

On Tuesday, more than 20 districts across Madhya Pradesh witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall. In Bhopal, the day started with clear skies, but by 4 PM, heavy rain lashed the city, leaving several parts waterlogged. Rainfall was also recorded in Tikamgarh, Narmadapuram, Sagar, Indore, Chhindwara, Damoh, Ujjain, Harda, and Shajapur, with precipitation continuing through the night in several areas.

Seasonal Rainfall Status in Madhya Pradesh

As of now, Madhya Pradesh has received an average of 21 inches of rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season. Notably, three districts – Niwari, Tikamgarh, and Sheopur – have exceeded their seasonal rainfall quota, with 15% more rain than normal. Five districts, including Gwalior, are also in a strong position, having received 80% to 95% of their average monsoon rainfall.

However, some divisions are lagging behind. Regions in Indore and Ujjain, including Shajapur, Burhanpur, and Agar-Malwa, have recorded less than 10 inches of rainfall so far, highlighting regional imbalances in precipitation.
