Jaipur, May 15, 2025 — Summer has tightened its grip on Rajasthan as temperatures continue to surge across the state. On Thursday, 25 cities recorded maximum temperatures above 40°C, with Sri Ganganagar emerging as the hottest location at a blistering 45.8°C. Meanwhile, Phalodi reported the highest night temperature at 32.2°C, indicating both day and night discomfort due to persistent heat.

Rising Heat and Heatwave Alerts
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several regions in western Rajasthan are on alert for heatwave conditions in the coming days. Cities like Churu, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar have already breached the 44°C mark, signaling extreme summer stress.
Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, stated that mild to moderate rainfall was observed in parts of Bhilwara, Bikaner, Udaipur, and Kota divisions on Thursday afternoon, accompanied by thunderstorm activity. However, this brief respite is unlikely to curb the heat’s momentum.
Forecast: Hotter Days Ahead
The IMD has forecast dust-laden winds at speeds of 30–40 km/h over the bordering regions of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions over the next 3–4 days. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise by 1–2°C, especially in Bikaner and Ganganagar, where maximum temperatures could reach 45°C again by May 16–17.
Elsewhere in the state, maximum temperatures between 42°C and 44°C are likely. From May 16 onwards, most parts of Rajasthan are expected to witness predominantly dry weather, except for isolated afternoon thunderstorms in Kota and Udaipur divisions.
Jaipur Sees Dust and Temperature Rise
In Jaipur, partly cloudy skies and visible dust contributed to a slight increase in temperatures. The city recorded a maximum of 42.4°C and a minimum of 27°C on Thursday. Dust haze reduced visibility in several areas, and residents reported increased heat discomfort throughout the day.
