Green Saviours Udaipur Plans Monsoon Forestry Activities; In-Depth Discussion on New Book ‘Forest Fire Management’

Udaipur, July 13, 2025 — The monthly meeting of Green Saviours Udaipur, a group of retired forest officers, was held today at Aranya Kutir. The session focused on outlining forestry initiatives for the monsoon season, including discussions on proposed plantation drives. As in previous years, the group reaffirmed its commitment to selecting suitable sites and conducting tree plantation activities.

Participants included retired CCF Rahul Bhatnagar, Indrapal Matharu, R.K. Singh, O.P. Sharma, Suhail Majboor, V.S. Rana, Brijpal Singh, S.S. Chauhan, S.N. Singh, Kesar Singh, Fateh Singh, Dalpat Singh, R.S. Chauhan, Omkarlal Menaria, Layak Ali, and Dr. Satish Sharma.

A highlight of the meeting was the detailed discussion around Dr. Satish Sharma’s 16th publication, Forest Fire Management. Dr. Sharma explained that the book thoroughly explores the nature of forest fires, the science behind fire spread in hilly terrains, characteristics of fire-adapted plants, and the ecological impact of fires on wildlife and vegetation. It also examines both traditional and modern fire control techniques.

The book further analyzes the effects of forest fires on nurseries, plantations, grasslands, valleys, and hilltops, while also delving into the role of terrestrial and marine winds in fire behavior. Members praised Dr. Sharma’s in-depth research and congratulated him on the publication.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolution to participate in tree plantation efforts during the monsoon season.
