Google Pixel 8a is rumored to be unveiled on May 14 at the company’s annual Google I/O conference. The closer the launch date gets, the more information about the successor to the Pixel 7a appears online.
A tipster has shared more renders of the upcoming Pixel smartphone’s case and surprisingly, it comes in a fifth color option. On the other hand, the smartphone is believed to only be available in four colors. Other reports also suggest that cell phone prices in the US may not rise this year.
Information about the color options comes from tipster @MysteryLupin, who also shared previous renders that showed the phone in four colors: black, beige, blue and green. On Tuesday, he posted another set of rendered images on X (formerly Twitter) showing the phone’s frame. But this time we have a surprise.
There’s also a fifth coral pink color that wasn’t included in previous renderings. This development is surprising, but perhaps Google will change Apple’s policies and release the Coral Pixel 8a when the phone reaches the middle of its cycle later this year.
Now as far as the price is concerned, according to a new report from Smartprix, the price of the Google Pixel 8a will not go up in the US and the smartphone will be priced at $499 (approximately Rs. 41,600) for the 128GB model and $499 for the 128GB model.
GB model sold at $599 (approximately Rs. 50,000) for the model 256GB internal storage model. This could be a big advantage for US residents, as the new Pixel smartphones are expected to feature some key improvements while maintaining the same price.
The report also predicts that smartphone prices in India could start at Rs. 44,999 based on previous year pattern. Last year, the Pixel 7a sold at a slightly higher price than its real-world currency equivalent. This is usually done to offset additional costs and internal taxes.
According to previous reports, the Google Pixel 8a will use the Google Tensor G3 chipset and will receive seven years of security updates. It is also rumored to have an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and all the new AI features of the Pixel 8 series.
