
Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday (March 14) released all the data on electoral bonds on its website. Two lists of 763 pages have been uploaded to the website. One list contains information about the buyers of the bonds. The other contains details of the bonds received by political parties. The Supreme Court had ordered the Commission to make this data public by March 15.

Earlier, State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman Dinesh Kumar filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. It stated that the available information related to electoral bonds has been given to the Election Commission in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions of March 11.
The SBI Chairman said, “We have given two files in a pen drive to the ECI. One file contains the details of the bond buyers. It mentions the date and amount of bond purchase. The other file contains information about the political parties that have encashed the bonds. There are also 2 PDF files in the envelope. These PDF files are also kept in the pen drive, the password to open them is also given in the envelope.”
The Supreme Court had in its order on March 11 directed the SBI to furnish details of all electoral bond transactions since their inception in 2018 to the ECI within a week. The apex court had also directed the ECI to make the data public on its website within 24 hours of receiving it from the SBI.
