Udaipur : Dungarpur Police on Thursday seized 300 kg silver and Rs 24 lakh cash from a luxury car at Ratanpur border in Gujarat. Two smugglers, identified as Anish son of Prabhudas Sachora from Jamnagar, Gujarat, and Ramesh Bhai son of Devraj from Rajkot, Gujarat, were arrested in the case.
According to Dungarpur SP Kundan Kavari, police received a tip-off that a luxury car was smuggling silver and cash. A police team led by Bichuwada SHO Madanlal set up a check post at Ratanpur border. The car was stopped and searched, and the silver and cash were found hidden in a secret compartment under the seats.
The silver is valued at around Rs 2.5 crore in the market. The cash was in the denomination of Rs 500.
The two smugglers were arrested and are being interrogated. They told police that they were smuggling the silver and cash from Agra to Rajkot.
Police have informed the GST department and the Income Tax department about the seizure.
