Goddess Shashthi’s Blessings Bring a Child Back to Life

During the discourse, the story of King Priyavrat and Queen Malini was narrated to explain the blessings of Goddess Shashthi.

According to the account, the king performed a Putreshti Yagna under the guidance of Maharishi Kashyap to seek a child. The queen gave birth to a son, but the newborn showed no signs of life.

Grief-stricken, the king took the child to the cremation ground. There, Goddess Shashthi appeared and brought the child back to life. The goddess also explained the tradition of worshipping her on the sixth day after a child’s birth.

Agarwal said that love, care and sensitivity towards children form the foundation of genuine service. He emphasised that helping children with disabilities and supporting families in need is a responsibility of society.
