Jio Reveals Growth Roadmap Ahead of Mega IPO, Focuses on Three Key Businesses

Mumbai, October 15, 2026: Ahead of what is expected to be India’s largest-ever IPO, Jio Platforms has outlined its next phase of growth, identifying mobility, home broadband, and enterprise-international business as its three key growth engines.

Mega IPO

Speaking to journalists in Mumbai, Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani said the company aims to strengthen its position in India’s digital economy through technology, digital gateways and robust infrastructure. The company sees an opportunity to play a significant role in India’s projected $1.4 trillion digital economy by FY31.

“Our most important business unit is our customer,” Akash Ambani said, emphasising Jio’s focus on providing better and affordable digital services to every Indian, household and enterprise.

Jio currently has around 533 million connectivity customers and handles more than 60% of India’s data traffic.

Mobility: Opportunity to Add 340 Million 4G and 5G Customers

Mobility remains one of Jio’s major growth drivers. The company estimates that the Indian market could see around 340 million new 4G and 5G customers over the next five years.

According to Akash Ambani, this opportunity includes approximately 100 million people who will get a mobile connection for the first time and around 240 million existing 2G users who could upgrade to 4G and 5G services.

Jio also reported strong customer additions in FY26. Its net active mobile customer additions during the financial year were around three times those of the second-largest operator, according to the company.

Home Broadband: Target of 100 Million Homes

Jio considers home broadband another major growth engine for the coming years.

The company currently has approximately 28.6 million fixed broadband customers and aims to expand its reach to 100 million homes.

In FY26, Jio accounted for around 67.5% of all new fixed broadband connections added across India, according to the figures shared by the company.

Akash Ambani said Jio is expanding its reach through both fibre and wireless technology, with services extending across 19,000 PIN codes in the country.

The expansion is expected to strengthen Jio’s presence in the home connectivity market and increase access to broadband services.

Enterprise and International Business: Expanding Beyond India

Jio’s third growth engine is its enterprise and international business. The company estimates India’s enterprise digital services market at around ₹5.1 lakh crore, or $56.8 billion.

Akash Ambani said nearly 65% of the country’s bank branches are connected to the Jio network, highlighting the company’s presence in enterprise connectivity.

Jio also plans to monetise its end-to-end technology stack in selected international markets. Instead of limiting its approach to software sales, the company aims to work with global telecom operators as a managed services partner.

According to Akash Ambani, this strategy could help India move from being a technology importer towards becoming a technology exporter.

Isha Ambani Highlights Reliance’s Long-Term Business Approach

During the event, Isha Ambani spoke about Jio’s beginnings and Reliance’s business philosophy. She said the company believes in long-term thinking, scale, strong execution and financial discipline.

The press conference began with Uday Kotak recalling Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani and the company’s 1977 IPO.

The discussion placed Jio’s next phase of growth in the context of its technology capabilities, expanding customer base and ambitions in both domestic and international markets.
