Cold Intensifies in Rajasthan Due to Northern Winds, Temperature to Rise Again from March 7

Jaipur, March 5 – The impact of cold northern winds has led to a significant drop in temperatures across Rajasthan following rainfall and hailstorms. Several cities in the state have recorded a temperature decline of 2 to 10 degrees Celsius, with night temperatures dipping below 10 degrees in 18 locations. Fatehpur recorded the coldest night at 4°C, while Barmer experienced the highest daytime temperature at 31.3°C. Meanwhile, Phalodi recorded the warmest night at 15.8°C. Notably, Bhilwara saw the sharpest drop in night temperatures, falling by 10 degrees.

Cold Wave Conditions Persist in Multiple Cities

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cities like Bhilwara, Vanasthali, Sikar, Chittorgarh, Pali, Bikaner, Churu, Nagaur, Baran, Sangaria, Sirohi, Fatehpur, Karauli, Mount Abu, Dausa, Lunkaransar, and Jhunjhunu recorded night temperatures below 10°C. In contrast, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Dungarpur, and Jalore witnessed daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C.

Weather Forecast: Dry Conditions to Prevail, Temperature to Rise After March 7

IMD Director Radheshyam Sharma stated that no new western disturbance is expected to impact the region in the coming week, ensuring that the weather will remain dry across most areas. In the next 24 hours, the intensified northern winds (blowing at speeds of 20-25 km/h) are likely to cause a further 2-4°C drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures. However, from March 7-8, temperatures are expected to rise again.

Jaipur Experiences Strong Winds and Temperature Drop

In Jaipur, moderate winds blew throughout Wednesday, accompanied by dust storms in some areas, causing disruptions for commuters. The effect of these cold winds was evident in the night temperature, which dropped by over 4°C, making mornings and evenings chilly.

Temperature Readings in Jaipur (March 5):

  • Maximum Temperature: 27°C (Stable)
  • Minimum Temperature: 13.4°C (-4.2°C drop)

The cold wave is expected to persist on Thursday, with further temperature decline anticipated. However, from March 7 onwards, a warming trend is likely to begin.
