Lea Michele is in discussions to reprise her iconic role as Rachel Berry in a reboot of the popular series “Glee,” confirmed sources. The reboot was officially announced by Disney+ and Hulu shortly before the talks surfaced.

Ryan Murphy, the show’s co-creator, mentioned that he has reached out to approximately ten original cast members regarding their involvement in the reboot. However, no specific casting decisions have been made public yet, and it remains unclear who else from the original lineup will join Michele in the new series.

The original “Glee” ran from 2009 to 2015 on Fox and became a cultural phenomenon known for addressing diverse social issues through its musical format. The show followed a high school glee club in Lima, Ohio, encompassing various characters who navigated the trials of adolescence, friendships, and competitions.

Michele described her time on “Glee” as crucial in her career, stating in a recent interview, “I will always love ‘Glee.’ I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me.” Chris Colfer, another original cast member, acknowledged the challenges of rebooting the show, particularly after the passing of co-star Naya Rivera, saying, “It would be really hard to do it now that Naya is gone. But I do know that Glee fans would probably come after me with pitchforks and jazz hands if I said no.” Rivera tragically died in 2020.

As for other cast members, reports indicate that Heather Morris, who played Brittany Pierce, and Chord Overstreet, who portrayed Sam Evans, might also participate in the revival, according to their social media activity. Meanwhile, Matthew Morrison has not been confirmed for the reboot, though he has expressed interest.

The reboot will be produced by 20th Television, the same studio behind the original series, which won six Emmy Awards during its run. The beloved series is currently available for streaming on Hulu, where its music continues to attract millions of listeners.

With fans eagerly anticipating more information, Michele’s potential return as Rachel Berry is generating significant excitement. As she wraps up her Broadway engagement, Michele’s next steps regarding the reboot remain to be seen.
