Islamabad: At least four people lost their lives, and 32 others were injured in a deadly explosion in Turbat, a city in Balochistan, on Saturday. Among the injured are a senior police officer and his six family members. Authorities have confirmed that the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

CCTV Footage Shows Sudden Explosion
According to Geo News, CCTV footage captured the moment when the explosion occurred on a busy road. Several vehicles can be seen moving, followed by a sudden blast that set a passing passenger bus ablaze. The injured senior police officer, SSP (Crime Branch) Zohaib Mohsin, was with his family when the blast occurred. All seven members sustained injuries as they were driving through the area during the attack.
BLA’s Violent Campaign Continues
Security forces have identified the deceased as Noor Khan, Abdul Wahab, Ijaz, and Liaquat Ali, all civilians from various parts of Balochistan. Sources have pointed out that the BLA, a banned militant group, has intensified its violent activities, targeting both civilians and security personnel. Over the past year, the BLA has reportedly claimed the lives of more than 100 innocent Baloch citizens.
Condemnation from Top Leaders
Prominent political figures condemned the attack. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and strongly condemned the incident. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also offered condolences to the victims’ families and denounced the act as barbaric.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called the attack a “cruel and brutal act”, emphasizing that targeting innocent people is inhumane. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori echoed similar sentiments, stating that “terrorists are enemies of innocent lives” and urged stronger action against such militant groups.
A Region Plagued by Violence
Balochistan has long been a hotspot for militant activities, with separatist groups like the BLA frequently carrying out attacks against security forces and civilians. The region’s strategic importance, coupled with long-standing grievances among local communities, has made it a focal point of insurgency in Pakistan.
Despite multiple operations by security forces to curb militancy, violent incidents continue to plague the region, causing significant loss of life and raising concerns about national security.
Government’s Response
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and security forces have intensified their operations in the region. Additional personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and prevent further attacks. The government has vowed to take stringent action against those responsible and enhance security measures across Balochistan.
In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s commitment to rooting out terrorism and ensuring peace in the region. He added, “We will not allow terrorists to destabilize the country or harm innocent civilians.”
