BHEL Shares Jump After Securing ₹5,400-Crore LoA from BCGCL

Mumbai, January 9: (Udaipur Kiran). Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) moved sharply higher on Friday after the company announced that it has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) worth around ₹5,400 crore from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL).

The stock was trading at ₹277.45 on the BSE, up ₹5.15 or 1.89 percent from its previous close of ₹272.30. It opened at ₹279.10 and touched an intraday high of ₹285.50 and a low of ₹273.10. A total of 21,37,454 shares were traded during the session.

The BSE Group ‘A’ stock, with a face value of ₹2, has recorded a 52-week high of ₹305.85 on January 7, 2026, and a 52-week low of ₹176.00 on March 3, 2025. Over the past one week, the scrip traded between ₹261.40 and ₹305.85. The company’s current market capitalisation stands at ₹97,306.26 crore. Promoters hold a 63.17 percent stake, while institutional and non-institutional investors hold 25.98 percent and 10.85 percent respectively.

BHEL said the LoA, excluding GST, has been received from BCGCL, a joint venture company in which BHEL holds a 49 percent stake and Coal India holds 51 percent. The order is for the Coal Gasification and Raw Syngas Cleaning Plant (LSTK-1 Package) of BCGCL’s Coal-to-2000 TPD Ammonium Nitrate Project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district of Odisha.

The scope of the order includes design, engineering, supply of equipment, civil works, erection, commissioning and operation and maintenance services for the LSTK-1 package. The project is scheduled to be completed, including commissioning and performance guarantee tests, within 42 months from the date of the LoA. The operation and maintenance services will be carried out for a period of 60 months thereafter.
