Kolkata : Senior West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Sadhan Pande died in a Mumbai hospital on Sunday following a prolonged battle with a lung ailment, official sources said. Pande, 72, is survived by his daughter. The nine-time MLA was ailing for the past several months.
Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and chief minister Mamata Banerjee condoled the demise of the veteran politician, who represented the Maniktala Assembly constituency since 2011. Earlier, he won six consecutive elections from North Kolkata’s Burtolla constituency, and shifted to Maniktala when the consituency was abolished. He served as the minister for Consumer Affairs & Self Help Group & Self-Employment in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet since 2011, but was made a minister without portfolio due to his illness since last year.

The Chief Minister in his condolence message said, “Our senior colleague, party leader and Cabinet Minister Sadhan Pande has passed away today morning in Mumbai. Had a wonderful relationship for a long time. Deeply pained at this loss. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and followers.”
