Udaipur : In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old businessman was kidnapped by four-five identified men in SarvraRitu Vilas area under Surajpole police station of the city. What has shocked the police is that the incident took place in broad day light during peak traffic hours in a densely populated commercial area which is hardly 100 meters away from the Udaipole chowky.
Suraj Narayan Sharma, the victim is told to be a resident of Navkar Complex in Naroda of Ahmedabad who made frequent trips to Udaipur for business reasons. The entire incident has been caught in a CCTV installed in a nearby building in the area and the hotel owner where the victim had been staying, identified the old man. The police complaint too has been given by the hotel owner, police said. “ Sharma is into the business of purchase and sale of metal scraps . He mainly procured dumped cars of the excise department through auctions here. And hence he made frequent trips to Udaipur” the DYSP Bhagwat Singh Hinger informed.
He had come to Udaipur on 19th this time and had been staying at Hotel SarvRitu Vilas. Around 5.15 he was walking towards the hotel when suddenly a white swift car stopped . “ As per the footage some four five men rushed out of the car and dragged the old man forcibly into the car. The kidnappers couldn’t be identified as they had tried to hide their faces. All of them were in black shirts and one of them had a cap” Heramb Joshi, circle inspector Surajpole police station said. The car had no number plate and hence the vehicle couldn’t be identified. The incident had been so sudden that it went unnoticed by passer bys and by the time people could realize what had happened the car had vanished into the busy streets.
Though the reasons behind the kidnap is not known, however, police suspect financial transactions could be a probable cause. Check posts have been laid throughout Udaipur-Ahmedabad Highway and the victim’s family has been informed. back home.
