A Stellar Performance in the Play ‘Yayati’

Udaipur : The three-day drama festival organized by the Western Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, commenced at the Darpan Sabhagar, Shilpgram, on Friday. The first day featured a performance of the play “Yayati.”

Furqan Khan, Director of the Western Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, informed that the three-day drama festival was inaugurated on Friday at the Darpan Sabhagar, Shilpgram. On the first day, the play “Yayati”, directed by Balendra Singh and written by Girish Karnad, was staged. This play was presented by Ham Theatre Group, Bhopal. Surekha Sarankar played the role of Devayani, Khushboo Chaubitkar as Swarnlata, Julie Priya as Sharmishtha, Yogesh Tiwari as Yayati, Aditya Tiwari as Puru, and Simran Bahl as Chitrarekha. The story of this play revolves around Yayati and Devayani, focusing on the relationship between husband and wife.

The program was conducted by the Centre’s Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts), Durgesh Chandwani. The Deputy Director (Programs) of the Centre, Pawan Amravati, Program Executive Hemant Mehta, and Superintendent Engineer C.L. Salvi were also present on the occasion.

On the second day of the drama festival, Saturday, “30 Days of September” directed by Smt. Ruchi Bhargav Narula will be staged. On the final day, Sunday, “Triyatra” directed by Shri Gagan Mishra and Smt. Pridyadarshini Mishra will be staged. Entry to this drama festival is free for the general public.
