Details of the Incident

According to the Kotwali police, the deceased, identified as Lakhan, and his twin brother Ram Panwar were residents of Sialia village in Bassi and had been living in a rented house in Chittorgarh for over a decade. The two worked in sanitation services and stayed in Gandhinagar’s Chief Minister Jan Awas Colony.

On Saturday night around 11 PM, Lakhan was attacked by Vikas Loth, a neighbor, and his two accomplices. The attackers used a knife to repeatedly stab Lakhan in the abdomen, chest, and hip, leaving him gravely injured. Witnesses reported hearing loud commotion and found Lakhan bleeding profusely. He was rushed to the district hospital and later referred to a private hospital in Udaipur, where he died during treatment.

Police officers, including Kotwali CI Sanjay Swami, arrived at the scene and collected evidence. Lakhan’s brother Ram lodged a formal complaint, stating that the attack was motivated by a dispute over a romantic relationship.

Love Affair Suspected as Motive

Lakhan’s brother alleged that the attack was linked to a love affair with a girl in the neighborhood. The girl’s family had been opposing the relationship. On the night of the incident, the girl’s mother reportedly confronted Lakhan and shoved him. Later, her brother, accompanied by two others, attacked Lakhan with a knife, fatally injuring him.

Police Investigation Underway

The Kotwali police team inspected the crime scene on Sunday and interviewed neighbors to gather more information. Sub-Inspector Rajaram, who traveled to Udaipur for the post-mortem, confirmed the allegations of a love affair leading to the attack.

The police have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend the accused, who fled after the incident.
