Auraiya, October 29 (Udaipur Kiran): Unseasonal rainfall over the past two days has changed the weather pattern in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, bringing an early winter chill. Cold winds accompanied by rain have made residents feel the onset of winter in the last week of October. The sudden drop in temperature has prompted people to pull out their woollen clothes, sweaters, and shawls.

According to the Meteorological Department, the showers caused by a western disturbance have led to a noticeable dip in temperature. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded nearly four degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature also fell by about two degrees.
Farmers expressed concern that the untimely rain could harm kharif crops ready for harvest. Paddy and millet stored in the open after harvesting have become wet, increasing worries about potential losses.
Meanwhile, the sudden chill has brought back activity to quilting and bedding markets. People have started visiting shops to repair old quilts and purchase new ones. Shopkeepers said sales have picked up sharply following the unexpected change in weather.
In both urban and rural areas, locals were seen lighting bonfires in the mornings and evenings to stay warm. Weather experts have predicted a further drop in night temperatures in the coming days, indicating that the cold conditions are likely to intensify.
For now, the unseasonal rain has marked the early arrival of winter, pushing residents to prepare for the chilly days ahead.
