Udaipur, 25 August (Kiran News). After the drowning deaths of four minors at Kunwari Mines in the Dabok police station area of Udaipur district on Sunday, an agreement regarding compensation was reached early Monday morning. Following the agreement, the bodies of all four children were taken to the mortuary at MB Hospital for post-mortem examination.

From Sunday afternoon until Monday morning, villagers and the victims’ families protested by keeping the bodies outside the mine gate. Despite several rounds of talks between the mine management and villagers in the presence of police and administration, no solution could be reached for a long time. The villagers insisted on a total compensation of ₹50 lakh and a job in the mine for one member from each family. BTP leader Angoorlal Gameti said that finally, the administration and management agreed to pay a total compensation of ₹30 lakh. According to the settlement, each victim’s family will receive ₹7.30 lakh.
It is notable that on Sunday, the four minor children had entered Kunwari Mines to bathe after grazing goats. Due to the deep rainwater, they drowned and died on the spot. The victims included three boys and one girl. After the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the site and sat on a protest with the bodies, demanding the presence of the mine owner. The bodies were only moved after the lengthy dispute and agreement over compensation was reached.
