Tragic Suicide of Student in Kota Ahead of NEET-UG 2026

Jaipur, May 2: A tragic incident has emerged just before the NEET-UG 2026 examination. On Saturday morning, a 20-year-old student preparing for the medical entrance exam took his own life in Kota, Rajasthan. The student has been identified as Dikshit Prasad, who was residing in the Kunhadi area of Kota for his exam preparations.

According to police reports, he allegedly jumped from the roof of his hostel a day before the exam, which is scheduled for May 3. Authorities were informed of the incident in the morning. Originally from Uttarakhand, Dikshit was living in a hostel under the jurisdiction of the Kunhadi police station while preparing for NEET-UG. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the local community and among fellow students.

Upon receiving the information, police officials arrived at the scene and took possession of the body, which has been sent for post-mortem examination. No suicide note has been found so far. Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including exam-related stress and other personal issues. The student’s family has been notified, and the post-mortem will be conducted once they arrive. The family is devastated by this incident.

The NEET-UG 2026 examination is set for May 3. In light of this, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued important guidelines to help candidates avoid last-minute issues at exam centers.

In a public notice released on Thursday, the agency provided an advisory detailing the dress code and items permitted in the examination hall. The NTA has urged all candidates to carefully follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free examination process.

According to the instructions, candidates are allowed to bring only transparent water bottles into the exam hall. The agency has also clarified that items related to religious beliefs may be permitted under certain conditions. Candidates wearing religious or faith-related items are advised to arrive early to allow sufficient time for proper security checks at the exam center.
