Mumbai, May 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – Fans of Suriya were left disappointed on Thursday after the morning, noon and matinee shows of his upcoming Tamil film Karuppu were cancelled at the last minute.
According to reports, financial issues linked to the film’s production house Dream Warrior Pictures are believed to be the reason behind the delay in the film’s release. However, the producers have not yet officially confirmed the cause.
Amid growing uncertainty, RJ Balaji, who has written and directed the film, apologised to fans through an emotional video shared on Instagram. He said many fans had travelled early in the morning to watch the 9 am show and added that the situation should not have caused stress to moviegoers.
Balaji expressed hope that the issues would be resolved soon and said he believes the film will release by Thursday evening. He also praised Suriya’s contribution to the project and assured fans that the film would be worth the wait.
At the time of publication, only a limited number of theatres were accepting bookings for evening shows on ticketing platforms.
Along with Suriya, the film stars Trisha Krishnan in the lead role. The cast also includes Indrans, Natty, Swasika, Sshivadha, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and Deepa Shankar.
The film’s music has been composed by Sai Abhyankkar, while cinematography is handled by GK Vishnu and editing by R Kalaivanan.
