New Delhi, September 9 (Udaipur Kiran) — The Supreme Court has halted the recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh. This comes after a decision by the Allahabad High Court. The Supreme Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government and related parties to submit their written arguments.
The Supreme Court stated that they need time to review the decision of the High Court. The Allahabad High Court had earlier cancelled the selection lists from June 2020 and January 2022. It ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to issue new selection lists for 69,000 teachers within three months, based on the 2019 assistant teacher recruitment exam.
The petition was filed by candidates from the unreserved category. In its decision, the High Court also stated that if a reserved category candidate achieves merit equal to the general category, they should be considered for selection in the general category. This decision had put many employed teachers in Uttar Pradesh at risk of losing their jobs.
