Udaipur : The anti corruption bureau officials on monday arrested a lower division clerk for taking bribe in the SDM office at Jhadol. Bhanu Khatri, the accused was caught taking twenty five thousand rupees from the complainant Vishnu Paneri in lieu for not taking any action to pull down an encroachment by him.
Additional SP Sudhir Joshi told media persons that the role of SDM Parvat Singh would also be investigated to find whether he was involved in the bribe demand because when Paneri had tried to bargain on the bribe money, the accused clerk had reportedly said that a share had to be given to the SDM also. The complainant told the ACB sleuths that he had a plot in Jhadol and adjoining to his land, there was another land belonging to the government.
Paneri had encroached on the public property with some construction and he was served notice from the SDM office to remove the illegal possession. Paneri approached the accused clerk who said that if he paid 25 thousand rupees, no action would be taken from the office. ACB inspector Harishchandra Singh Chundawat and his team verified the complaint and when the complainant went to the SDM office on monday and gave the bribe amount, the ACB sleuths nabbed the clerk.
