Jodhpur, 2 September (Kiran News) – A retired soldier from Rupanagar Digadikalān village near Jodhpur was defrauded of ₹5.39 lakh after being tricked into downloading the YONO app by a cyber fraudster. The accused siphoned money from two different SBI accounts belonging to the victim. The incident has been reported to the cyber portal, and a formal case has now been registered at Banad police station. The victim had recently broken his fixed deposit to keep money in his accounts for his daughter’s wedding.

According to ASI Binjaram, the victim, Ghishulal, son of Bhanwarlal Prajapat, is a retired soldier currently employed in security at the High Court. On 23 August, he received a call from an unknown person, who convinced him to download the SBI YONO app using a link sent on his phone. On 1 September, amounts of ₹50,000, ₹4.5 lakh, and ₹39,000 were withdrawn in separate instalments from his two SBI accounts. The fraudster used the app download to access and withdraw the funds.
ASI Binjaram further said that Ghishulal had deposited the money in his SBI accounts after liquidating a fixed deposit for his daughter’s wedding. The case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
