Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued as Western Disturbance Triggers Weather Shift Across the State
JAIPUR, May 3, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for eight districts in Rajasthan, warning of thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and strong winds due to a newly active Western Disturbance. The shift in weather is expected to continue over the next 3–4 days in several regions across the state.

Alert Zones: Orange for Three Districts, Yellow for Five

Orange Alert: Issued for Alwar, Bharatpur, and Bhilwara districts and surrounding areas. These regions may experience light to moderate rainfall, lightning, and strong surface winds resembling localised squalls or ‘Andhi’ conditions.

Yellow Alert: Issued for Jodhpur, Pali, Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur, and Dholpur, where thunderclouds, gusty winds, and light showers are expected in isolated places.
Additionally, Jaipur is under a Yellow Alert, while Alwar, Dholpur, and Bharatpur remain on Orange Alert until further notice.
Recent Weather Activity Across the State
According to the IMD’s 24-hour observations, weather began shifting across 12 districts as early as Friday morning. Affected areas included Kota, Bikaner, Barmer, Dausa, Karauli, Alwar, Bhiwadi, Bharatpur, Jhunjhunu, and Nagaur, where dust storms, lightning, and intermittent rainfall were reported.
In Sri Ganganagar, 11.5 mm of rainfall was recorded, leading to waterlogging and damage to grain stocks in local mandis.
In Jaipur, strong winds swept through the city in the morning, providing some relief. However, heat and humidity intensified by midday, making conditions uncomfortable. Saturday morning, in contrast, brought cooler winds and overcast skies, offering some respite to residents.

The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has forecast thunderstorms, dust storms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall in parts of the state until early next week. Residents are advised to:
