Aligarh : In the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, BJP MP Brij Lal highlighted the subject of reservation at Aligarh Muslim University. He claimed that there was no reservation at the institution for SC, ST, and OBC students.

Both BHU and AMU were formed by the same Act by the British government, he explained, but BHU has been granting the reservation to the group stipulated by law while AMU has not. Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh donated the land for AMU, according to the BJP MP.
Sir Syed Ahmad Khan founded Aligarh Muslim University as Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College. Following the Aligarh Muslim University Act in 1920, it was renamed Aligarh Muslim University. Malappuram, Murshidabad, and Kishanganj are its three off-campus locations. It is a national institute with over 300 courses in traditional and modern fields of education.
