Jaipur, December 22 – Rajasthan is set to witness a significant change in weather conditions starting December 23, as western disturbances are expected to bring rain to parts of the state. The INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a three-to-four-day spell of rain, beginning in eastern RAJASTHAN and gradually extending to northern and western districts.

Rain Forecast for Eastern Rajasthan
According to Radhey Shyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center, Jaipur, the effects of a weak western disturbance will likely bring light rain and cloudy skies to Bharatpur and Kota divisions on December 23 and 24. A stronger western disturbance is anticipated to become active around December 26-27, which may result in moderate rainfall and thunder in eastern, northern, and western Rajasthan.
- The current spell of cloudy skies has already caused a rise in night temperatures across several districts.
- Fatehpur, at 4.3°C, recorded the coldest night in the state, while Mount Abu and Sangaria also saw nighttime temperatures dip below 5°C.
Temperature Trends Across Rajasthan
The shift in weather patterns has led to fluctuations in temperatures:
- Nighttime Temperatures:
- 21 cities, including Ajmer, Alwar, Jaipur, Sikar, and Churu, recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C.
- Barmer experienced the warmest day with a high of 26.2°C, while Jodhpur had the warmest night at 11.4°C.
- Fog Conditions:
- Dense fog was observed in parts of Shekhawati and western Rajasthan during early mornings.
- Jaipur Weather:
- Jaipur witnessed a significant drop in nighttime temperatures, falling over 4°C to 9.4°C.
- Despite a slight increase in daytime temperatures to 23.8°C, cold winds ensured the chill persisted throughout the day.
Upcoming Weather Patterns
The IMD forecasts indicate:
- December 23-24: Light rainfall and partially cloudy skies in northern and eastern regions of the state.
- December 26-27: Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder in various parts, driven by an active western disturbance.
Additionally, easterly winds are expected to cause a slight rise in minimum temperatures across the state from December 22-23.
