Kota, February 13 (Udaipur Kiran): A constable of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) allegedly died by suicide at his government residence in Kota on Thursday night, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Prem Shankar, a resident of Karwar in Bundi district, who was posted in the 2nd Battalion of RAC in Kota. According to police information, he returned home after completing his duty and roll call. At that time, his wife was preparing dinner in the kitchen and the children were in another room.
Police said that Prem Shankar went into a separate room and allegedly hanged himself. When family members became aware of the incident, they immediately rushed him to the Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Dadabari Police Station officials stated that no suicide note was recovered from the spot. The exact reason behind the incident has not yet been ascertained. Prem Shankar had joined service in 2008 and had also undergone special commando training. He had served for around 18 years.
Police are investigating all possible angles in the case. After a post-mortem conducted by a medical board, the body was handed over to the family. Dadabari Station Officer Baldev said that further investigation is being carried out based on the family’s report and initial inquiry.
