Udaipur : During the Shiv Katha organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan in the holy month of Sawan, the institution’s President Prashant Agrawal narrated the divine story of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati, emphasising that true penance can only be performed with a pure mind and sincere devotion.
He said that penance is not merely about enduring physical hardships but about freeing the mind from negative tendencies and dedicating oneself completely to God.
Story Highlights Devotion of Goddess Sati
While narrating the episode, Prashant Agrawal spoke about Goddess Sati’s devotion and unwavering faith in Lord Shiva. He said that Indian spiritual tradition regards sacrifice and detachment as the path to self-purification.
He added that even in the present age, many young men and women, including followers of Jainism and other spiritual traditions, renounce worldly attachments and choose a life of discipline and detachment. According to him, true renunciation is not reflected in outward appearance but originates within the mind.

Prashant Agrawal said that the life of Lord Shiva conveys the values of sacrifice, compassion, self-discipline and equanimity. He stated that if a person succeeds in overcoming ego, greed, anger and attachment, life itself becomes a form of spiritual practice.
