Imphal : The People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has claimed responsibility for an IED blast that injured two personnel of ITBP on Sunday night at Wangoo Tera, Kakching district. Mangal Khuman, Publicity Officer, Dept of Publicity and Propaganda, PREPAK said in a statement on Monday that two IEDs were planted but only one had blasted.
The ITBP personnel were staying at Wangoo High School as they were on duty for the Manipur elections. The blasts were carried out by a team of Red Army, PREPAK Special Task Force C, he said.
The statement added that the blasts were carried out as the Coordination Committee ( Cor Com), the umbrella of Manipur based insurgent groups, had called total shut down on Feb 22 as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Manipur. The organization also reminded of its activities which started on March 26, 1980, by attacking a CRPF convoy at Imphal.
