Mumbai, February 14: Mumbai Police have taken significant steps in the case involving gunfire at Rohit Shetty’s residence and threats received by actor Ranveer Singh. The police have recorded statements from both Shetty and Singh’s manager, and have recreated crucial scenes related to the case.
Ranveer Singh received a voice note from an unknown number, where the sender claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded money. Following the incident, Singh promptly informed senior police officials. The Mumbai Crime Branch team then reached out to Singh to take his manager’s statement. During the investigation, police inquired whether Singh had received any previous threats or if there were any past incidents. The voice note specifically targeted Singh’s staff. Authorities have begun analyzing the voice recording and are attempting to trace its source.
In a related development, the Mumbai Crime Branch recreated the scene of the shooting incident at Shetty’s home, which involved bringing a scooter from Pune to Mumbai. Four accused individuals—Swapnil Sakhat, Aditya Gayki, Siddharth Yenpure, and Samarth Pomaji—were involved in this recreation. The police replicated every detail, from purchasing the scooter to transporting it via road, stopping at various locations, and parking it outside Ville Parle station.
During questioning, the accused revealed that after the scooter arrived in Mumbai, the main accused, Shubham Lonkar, gave them an additional ₹11,000. Initially, police had mentioned ₹40,000, but the investigation revealed a total of ₹51,000 (₹30,000 for the scooter and ₹21,000 for expenses). This entire recreation was documented on video, which will be presented in court.
According to sources, the sixth accused, Praveen Lonkar, is expected to be taken into custody from jail within the next 2-3 days. The main shooter and his accomplice remain at large, and efforts to locate them are ongoing. Police have invoked the MCOCA Act against the accused and have intensified the investigation.
