Udaipur, February 16, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) – Rajsamand district’s Piplantri Gram Panchayat is set to become the first panchayat in the country to generate income through carbon credits. In a major step towards this goal, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Green Pipal Society, Terra Blue Company and Piplantri Gram Panchayat for implementation of a carbon credit project.

Details Shared in Gram Sabha
A Gram Sabha was held under the chairmanship of Panchayat Administrator Anita Paliwal, where villagers were informed about earning carbon credits through organic farming, large-scale tree plantation and solar roof installations.
President of Green Pipal Society, Rahul Bhatnagar, said that plantation carried out on government land will directly benefit the panchayat. If plantation is done on farmers’ private land, the income generated through carbon credits will go directly to the concerned farmer. He said this initiative links environmental protection with economic empowerment and presents an innovative rural development model.
Towards a National Example
Terra Blue founder Uday Ji and Pradeep Motwani appreciated the plantation work carried out in Piplantri and stated that it will be the first panchayat in the country to receive regular income through carbon credits.
Shyam Sundar Paliwal said that sustained plantation efforts over the years have improved soil quality and moisture levels for local farmers. Crop production has increased and water conservation has strengthened. With the addition of carbon credit income, farmers will now have a long-term supplementary source of revenue.
Income for 25 Years
Terra Blue CEO Richard Bright stated that based on plantations carried out over the past four years, carbon credit income will continue for the next 25 years. He added that the model will also be expanded to other gram panchayats in Rajsamand district.
Green Pipal Society representative Suhail Majboor explained the technical procedures related to registration and income generation under the carbon credit system.
