Udaipur : In a rare and successful surgery, doctors at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Umra, Udaipur, have removed a stone from the lung of a young patient.
The patient, a 30-year-old man, had been suffering from shortness of breath, coughing up blood, and chest pain for three months. He had a history of pulmonary tuberculosis one year ago.
A chest CT scan showed a large bronchiectatic cavity with a small calcific lesion in the right lung, along with fibrocalcific changes.
A team of respiratory physicians, including Dr. Sanidhya Tank, Dr. Arpit Johar, Dr. Gurmehar Singh Thethi, Dr. Gaurang, Dr. Shubhneesh, and Dr. Abdul Wahab, planned a bronchoscopy.
During the bronchoscopy, a hard, dirt-like lesion measuring about one centimeter was removed using a memory basket. Broncholithiasis is a very rare condition that can be life-threatening.
This is the second major surgery performed at PIMS Hospital in recent weeks. In January, a team of doctors at the hospital successfully removed a tumor from the brain of a 10-year-old girl.
These cases demonstrate the expertise and experience of the medical team at PIMS Hospital. The hospital is committed to providing high-quality healthcare to the people of Udaipur and the surrounding region.
