NIA Raids 12 Locations in Bastar Linked to 2023 Maoist Attack Case

Jagdalpur/Raipur, November 8 (Udaipur Kiran) — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday carried out simultaneous raids at 12 locations across Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region in connection with the 2023 Aranpur IED blast and Maoist attack case. The searches were conducted at the premises of several suspects and accused individuals allegedly linked to the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit.

NIA Raids

According to the NIA, the raids targeted people suspected of having close ties with armed cadres of the proscribed CPI (Maoist). During the searches, investigators seized a large cache of incriminating material, including cash, handwritten notes, Maoist levy collection receipts, and various digital devices.

The April 26, 2023 incident took place near Pedka village under Aranpur police station limits in Dantewada district, where Maoists from the Darbha Division Committee ambushed security personnel. The NIA has been probing the case and has so far arrested 27 accused and filed two charge sheets.

Among those arrested are Dhanendra Ram Dhruv alias Guruji and Ramswaroop Markam, identified as Maoist associates who provided logistical support and assistance for the IED explosion.

The agency has also linked these individuals to another blast that occurred on November 17, 2023, in Badegobra village of Gariaband district. That explosion took place when polling and security personnel were returning after election duty. In the attack, a head constable of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) 615 Adhoc Battalion lost his life.

The NIA said the investigation is ongoing, with efforts continuing to trace others involved in supplying explosives and supporting the Maoist network in the region.
