According to reports, a new Honor Flip phone with a Flip design made of sharp and geometric edges may be in the works. Despite selling the Honor Magic V series in multiple regions and having a presence in the Flip smartphone market, the Chinese smartphone maker does not have a Flip product. However, there is speculation that a Flip smartphone could be in the works, with an edgy design that would make it stand out in the market.

According to Gizmochina, a Flip phone patent filed by Honor in 2022 was discovered on the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) website. The patent was reportedly approved this month.
No specific details about the smartphone have been revealed, but the patent images show a Flip design with sharp edges instead of the rounded corners found on most Flip phones on the market.
The front of the Flip phone is said to have a pill-like recess in the top left corner, which is likely to house the camera unit and display cover.
In an interview with CNBC at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February, Honor CEO George Chao said the company is developing a flip-style smartphone and admitted it is expected to launch in the second half of the year. But the approval of a patent application in May suggests that may not be the point.
This isn’t the first time there have been rumors about Honor’s Flip phone. A few days ago, popular tipster Digital Chat Station posted an image of the Honor Flip phone with a circular camera. This will be the Honor V Flip smartphone, which, according to the company, will come onto the market in June.
The smartphone also reportedly features a large bezel-less display and a 4,500mAh dual-cell battery. Once it launches, it could rival the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Flip 6, both of which are expected to launch soon.
