Jodhpur : In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Mumbai Police raided a drug factory operating under the guise of a service center in Jodhpur’s Mogra area. The raid led to the seizure of approximately 68 kilograms of MD drugs, estimated to be worth ₹104 crore.
The factory has been sealed and its operator, identified as 40-year-old Bharmal Jat, has been taken into custody. According to reports, Jat had been running the illegal operation for the past six months.
This operation is part of a joint effort by the Mumbai Police, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).
Tip-off and Further Action
Mumbai Police received intelligence suggesting a connection between drugs being supplied in Mumbai and a location in Jodhpur. Following this tip-off, investigations led them to the factory on Mogra-Guda Road.
Authorities suspect that four other factories might also be involved in the illegal drug racket. Raids are reportedly underway at these locations. Local police have been placed on high alert.
Previous Drug Haul
This raid comes on the heels of another major drug seizure in the region. On April 27th, a joint team of NCB and Gujarat ATS seized drugs worth ₹230 crore (US$32.4 million) in a border operation between Rajasthan and Gujarat. A total of 13 people were arrested, with six of them being residents of Rajasthan. It is believed that during this operation, authorities also received information regarding the drug factory in Jodhpur.
