MP Mannalal Rawat Directs Officials to Expedite Jal Jeevan Mission in Salumber District

Udaipur, January 15: In a significant move aimed at accelerating development in Salumber district, Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat directed officials to expedite ongoing projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and complete them within stipulated timelines. He emphasized that these projects are crucial for fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring clean drinking water for every household.

MP Mannalal Rawat

Dr. Rawat issued these instructions during the first meeting of the Disha Committee for Salumber district, which he chaired on Wednesday. The meeting saw the participation of senior district officials, local leaders, and heads of various departments.

Focus on Comprehensive Development of Salumber

Addressing the officials, Dr. Rawat highlighted the combined efforts of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma in driving Salumber’s all-round development. He urged the authorities to promptly implement welfare schemes on the ground to ensure timely benefits for the public.

“The progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Salumber district has only reached about 58% of the population, which is far from satisfactory. There is an urgent need to accelerate these projects and ensure that the remaining households are covered swiftly,” Dr. Rawat stated. He also directed officials to repair roads damaged due to ongoing pipeline installations under the mission.

Concern Over Migration and Call for Local Employment Generation

Dr. Rawat expressed concern over the migration of nearly 47,000 people from the region in search of employment. He described this as a pressing issue and called for long-term solutions to curb migration. The MP urged officials to create sustainable local employment opportunities by promoting horticulture, agriculture, and water conservation projects, along with skill development programs for women through institutions like RSETI.

“There is a dire need to equip local women with vocational skills to enable them to earn a livelihood in their villages. A detailed plan should be drafted to ensure sustainable job creation in the region,” he added.

Expansion of PMGSY and Rural Connectivity

Dr. Rawat also instructed officials to identify and connect villages that are still deprived of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Citing examples of remote villages like Kalat and Buz Phala, he stressed the importance of providing basic infrastructure to these areas.

Completion of Pending PM Awas Yojana Projects

In addition, the MP urged officials to expedite the completion of pending houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He instructed district-level authorities to strictly enforce the provisions of the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act in all government offices.

Water Conservation and Agricultural Support

To boost agricultural productivity, Dr. Rawat directed officials to focus on desilting 150 ponds as part of a broader water conservation initiative. He emphasized the importance of linking MGNREGA works with agriculture and related sectors to generate tangible results. He also called for a structured training program for women associated with Rajeevika, aimed at integrating them into local economic activities.

Proposed Jakhm-Jaisamand Water Linking Project

Dr. Rawat discussed the proposed project to link the excess water from Jakhm dam with Jaisamand Lake, a move expected to significantly improve water availability in Udaipur and surrounding areas. He directed officials to expedite the replacement of the old pipeline from Jaisamand to Udaipur and consult with the public to ensure smooth execution of the project.

District Progress Report Presented

During the meeting, the District Collector presented a detailed progress report on various central government schemes being implemented in the district. Representatives from Semari, Lasadiya, Jhallara, Salumber, and Sarada were present, including Semari Pradhan Durga Prasad Meena, Lasadiya Pradhan Leela Devi, and other district-level officers.
