Apple has started setting up large displays at its Fifth Avenue store in New York ahead of the iPhone Duo launch on Friday. The structures are currently covered but appear to be giant replicas of the new phone model, according to reports on social media.

The Fifth Avenue store has previously had unique decorations during major iPhone launches. For instance, in 2024, the store was illuminated in colors representing the iPhone 16. Last month, it displayed promotions for the iPhone 18 Pro launch.

While there have been no lines forming outside the Fifth Avenue store as of yet, customers have reportedly begun to queue at other locations. Apple confirmed that limited units of the iPhone Duo will be available for walk-in purchases at its U.S. retail outlets. In regions such as China, Japan, and France, customers will only have access to in-store pickups for pre-ordered devices.

The iPhone Duo, which is Apple’s first foldable device, is priced starting at $2,000. It features an outer 5.4-inch display that unfolds to reveal a 7.6-inch screen inside. Reviewers note that while the device offers a unique user experience, compatibility issues with existing apps could be a challenge, as many are not yet optimized for the larger display.

“It’s a big move for Apple, which rarely messes with its winning formula,” a CNN review said, emphasizing the change this dual-screen phone represents.

Users have reported a steep learning curve with the iPhone Duo, including challenges with app functionality and controls. Some have praised its versatility, describing it as an excellent device for multitasking, while others have expressed frustration over compatibility issues.

The anticipation builds as Apple prepares for the official release, aiming to draw customers into its iconic Fifth Avenue store.
