Moto Tag Bluetooth Tracker With UWB Connectivity, Find My Device Network Support Launched

Moto Tag launched on Tuesday as a Bluetooth tracker for Android devices equipped with ultra-wideband (UWB) chips. Location trackers have been around for years, allowing people to locate lost or stolen items from their smartphones and other devices. Tile and Apple are the biggest players in this market, although the latter’s AirTags are only compatible with Apple devices. On Android, Tile offers several location tracking solutions, and Motorola’s new Moto Tag will compete.

Moto Tag specifications and features

The newly launched Moto Tag supports Google’s Find My Device network. This network was recently launched by the search giant. Motorola claims the tracker offers accurate location tracking when paired with UWB-enabled smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Google Pixel 8.

The device also has a dedicated multi-function button and Motorola says it can ping your smartphone to determine its location. In addition, it can be used as a remote shutter release when taking photos with your Android smartphone. It also supports Google Quick Pairing, which simplifies the setup process. The standalone Moto Tag app also lets you change your tag’s name, set the alarm sound, check battery life, and more.

The company says its Bluetooth tracker protects user privacy by providing end-to-end encryption of users’ location information. This means that only people who share their location with the Moto Tag owner can find them.

Motorola says the device supports automatic unknown tracker notifications on both Android and iOS platforms, which alert users when an unknown party attempts to track their location. Additionally, you can also run a manual scan later to check for unwanted trackers.

The Moto Tag should be compatible with third-party accessories and can be attached to valuables. In terms of durability, it meets the IP67 standard and can withstand up to 30 minutes in water up to a depth of 1 meter. It is powered by a CR2032 battery that is said to last a year on a single charge.
