May 22, 2025 | New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that the southwest monsoon is set to enter India around May 27, five days earlier than its usual arrival date of June 1 in Kerala. This early onset is expected to provide timely relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions affecting large parts of the country, particularly in northern and central India.

According to the IMD’s latest forecast, the early monsoon entry into Kerala will trigger a steady northward advance, bringing much-needed rains to parched regions across the subcontinent.
🗓️ State-wise Monsoon Arrival Estimates (As per IMD’s historical data & 2025 forecast)

🌧️ Why This Early Monsoon Matters
An early monsoon is not only a sign of relief from rising temperatures but also a critical seasonal signal for Indian agriculture. With sowing activities for kharif crops largely dependent on monsoon rains, the timely arrival helps farmers begin cultivation on schedule, improving crop yield prospects.
🔥 Current Weather Scenario
Northern states like Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, and Bihar are currently battling severe heat and humidity, with temperatures hovering around or above 40°C in many areas. The IMD expects rainfall and cooler conditions to gradually spread northward following the monsoon’s landfall in Kerala.
🌾 Farmers and Public Advised to Stay Alert
IMD has advised farmers to prepare for early sowing and general public to track daily updates for heatwave alerts, rain forecasts, and monsoon advancement, especially in high-impact zones.
