Chennai, February 23: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted moderate rainfall in some parts of the Western Ghats over the next two days, while most other areas in Tamil Nadu are likely to experience dry conditions.
In a statement, the weather department indicated that light to moderate rain is expected at one or two locations in the Western Ghats districts on Monday and Tuesday. However, the rainfall activity is likely to be limited to isolated areas in the hilly and surrounding regions, with no forecast for widespread rain.
Meanwhile, dry weather is anticipated to persist in the rest of Tamil Nadu, as well as in the Union Territory of Puducherry and its Karaikal region. Weather officials noted that there is currently no significant weather system affecting large parts of the state, resulting in stable atmospheric conditions.
Looking ahead, the department has forecast moderate rainfall in southern Tamil Nadu on February 26. However, detailed information regarding the intensity and spread of the rain has not yet been provided, with officials suggesting that the rainfall may be confined to select districts in the southern region.
Regarding temperatures, no significant fluctuations are expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the coming days. However, a slight increase in maximum temperatures cannot be ruled out, with daytime temperatures expected to hover around seasonal averages.
In Chennai, the sky is likely to remain partially cloudy throughout the day, with the weather department also predicting the possibility of light fog in one or two areas during the early morning hours. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to range between 33 to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is forecasted to be between 24 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials have advised residents of the Western Ghats districts, particularly in hilly areas, to remain cautious about the possibility of light rain, while assuring that no major weather disruptions are anticipated across the state at this time.
