Srinaga : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a militant associate in Sopore township in north Kashmir, officials said. One Ak-56 rifle along with a magazine and 30 live cartridges were recovered from him, police said.

On specific information regarding the movement of some anti-national elements, Sopore police along with 32 RR and 92 BN CRPF launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Nadihal area of Baramulla district. During the search operation one militant associate was arrested. He was identified as Firdous Ahmad Wani a resident of Check Seri Pattan. Police has registered a case under Indian Arms Act in Police Station Panzalla and further investigation has been taken up.
