According to officials, the action was carried out by the ACB Sawai Madhopur unit under directions from the ACB headquarters. The accused SDM, Kajal Meena, was allegedly demanding a bribe through her reader Dinesh Kumar Saini and senior assistant Praveen Dhakad in exchange for issuing the final decree related to the complainant’s land case.

Director General of Police, ACB, Govind Gupta, said a complaint was received alleging that the SDM, through her reader, had demanded Rs 50,000 as a bribe. The complainant also stated that an earlier demand of Rs 1 lakh was made, which was later settled at Rs 50,000.

During confidential verification on April 16, it was found that Rs 50,000 was being demanded for the SDM and Rs 10,000 for the reader. Acting on this, the ACB team laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting Rs 60,000 from the complainant at the SDM office in Nadoti.

Officials said the bribe amount was handed over to senior assistant Praveen Dhakad, who had arrived at the office with a bag. Upon inspection, Rs 60,000 in bribe money and an additional Rs 4 lakh in suspected cash were recovered from the bag.

Following the operation, SDM Kajal Meena, reader Dinesh Kumar Saini, and senior assistant Praveen Dhakad were detained on the spot.

The trap was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr Rameshwar Singh, with Additional Superintendent of Police Gyan Singh Chaudhary leading the ACB Sawai Madhopur team.

Further investigation is underway under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General of Police S Parimala. The ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is continuing its probe into the matter, including questioning related to the recovered suspected cash.
