Microsoft is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot for Microsoft 365 to include support for new Indian regional languages. The tech giant is adding several new Indian languages to its AI models to properly understand queries and generate responses in these languages. According to the company, support for additional languages has been added to make the AI tool more accessible to users with primary languages other than English. Notably, Microsoft has also added Copilot to the Telegram instant messaging app and the Microsoft Launcher app for Android.

Microsoft now supports these Indian regional languages
The company announced support for additional languages in a press release on Wednesday. Microsoft 365 Copilot now supports regional Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu. The company has not revealed the full list of languages supported by its AI chatbot. Updated languages are also not added to the support page.
According to a press release, the company will expand Copilot support for regional languages not only in India but also in other countries around the world. Before this update, Copilot supported 27 languages in commands, but Indian regional languages were not included.
Microsoft says the expanded support will not only allow users to speak to chatbots in their native language, but also receive responses in the same language. The company emphasized that this feature will be useful for students, small businesses, and native speakers who are unable to use productive AI due to language barriers.
Pawan Kumar Verma, Regional Business Head, MWP, Embee Software, said, “By integrating regional languages, we are making technology more inclusive and accessible. Embee Software is India’s leading Microsoft LSP Partner.
Separately, Microsoft is extending Copilot to various apps and adding functionality to the in-app environment. On Tuesday, the tech giant released a beta version of Copilot for Telegram for all users. Chatbots are free to use on messaging apps, but there is a limit of 30 messages per day. Copilot is now also available in the Microsoft Launcher app for Android.
