Meta AI Chatbot Is Finally Rolling Out to India, Will Be Powered By Llama 3 AI Model

Meta AI, the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, has started its rounds in India. The chatbot is available on all platforms owned by Meta, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, as well as on the Meta.ai website. The chatbot is based on the Llama 3 Large Language Model (LLM), which was launched in April. Social media giant Meta AI has launched an artificial intelligence chatbot just days after launching a new AI model in several countries.

In a press release, Meta announced the launch of its AI chatbot in India. Although the rollout has already started in the country, it may take a few more days for everyone to see the feature.

Although the company did not explain the reason for the delay in the launch in India, it is believed to be due to the upcoming general elections in the country. After launch, users will soon see a blue and pink ring in the search bar of Meta-owned apps. When the user clicks on it, they are taken to the AI in a separate chat where they can chat, ask questions or take pictures. In WhatsApp, AI can also be added to groups and interact with tagged messages. Specifically, Meta AI can access both Google and Bing to answer queries for web searches.

According to Mehta, AI can recommend specific restaurants, plan trips, help with homework, write code, get quick overviews of different topics, and send emails, messages, letters, articles, and more.

In addition to being accessed through a dedicated chat, users can also use it while scrolling through Facebook messages. Each message has an Ask Meta AI icon that you can tap to get more information about the content of the message. This feature is currently available for free and users only need an account on the meta platform to access it.
