Udaipur, 25 July – In a deeply disturbing incident, a man in Udaipur allegedly killed his wife and two children before dying by suicide, reportedly due to financial distress. The tragedy occurred on Friday around 12 noon in the Prabhat Nagar area under the Hiran Magri police station limits.

Hiran Magri SHO Bharat Yogi confirmed that Dilip Chitara, who lived with his family in a rented house owned by Ravi Sachdeva, had not opened his room since the previous night. Concerned neighbours, sensing something unusual, informed the police. Upon arrival, police broke open the door and discovered the horrifying scene.
Dilip Chitara (40) was found hanging, while the bodies of his wife Alka (37) and their two children—Manveer (10) and Khushbir (3)—were lying on the bed.
As per the police’s preliminary findings, Dilip strangled his wife Alka with a wire and poisoned both children before hanging himself. Initial investigation suggests that Dilip was under severe financial pressure.
Dilip’s uncle, Manak Chitara, told police that around five to six months ago, Dilip had mentioned being in debt. “I had advised him to sell his house to repay the loan,” he said. “But we never spoke about it again. I recently met him at his shop, and we only discussed family matters then.”
The case is currently under investigation, and police are looking into the extent of Dilip’s financial difficulties and other possible factors behind the tragic act.
