Google has announced an upcoming “Made by Google” event. The event is expected to include a livestream presentation announcing new hardware, potentially including the Pixel 8 smartphone and Pixel Watch 2.
The event is scheduled for October 4th at 10am ET and will take place in New York City.
As with previous events, Google will stream the event live on YouTube and other social media platforms.
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones were announced during the event, and the Pixel Watch 2 is also expected to be unveiled.
The event aims to highlight the latest hardware offerings from Google during the highly competitive mobile launch season.
Google’s I/O event earlier this year didn’t give us much insight into the Pixel 8, but leaks have filled the gap with information about the upcoming device.
One notable, albeit unintentional, leak came from Google itself. The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to feature Google’s Tensor G3 chip, making it the third version after the Pixel 6’s Tensor G2.
According to the leaked information, the G3 chip have 9 CPU cores and are expected to perform better. The graphics should also be improved with 10 GPU cores clocked at 890 MHz compared to the 7 cores of the Tensor G2.
The Pixel 8 is expected to introduce a 64-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and upgrade the camera.
It’s also possible that the phone will return to its previous design with more curved corners and use the same color options as the Pixel Fold, including porcelain, obsidian and an ocean blue color.
As for the Pixel Watch 2, the smartwatch is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip and offer significantly longer battery life than its predecessor.
It is rumored to be able to work for up to 24 hours with the always-on display enabled. The Pixel Watch 2 may also work with Wear OS 4.
It’s unclear if Google will unveil a new Pixel tablet, but since the first Pixel tablet launched relatively recently last year, it’s possible that a new Nest device will be announced. But compared to the rumors surrounding Google’s phones and wearables, information on Nest’s new products is limited.
