Leaked PS5 Pro Specifications Hint at Improved System Memory, CPU Speed and Faster GPU

Sony is said to be developing a “Pro” version of the PlayStation 5, which will be released later this year. Industry analysts said last month that the PS5 Pro with the latest hardware features will likely launch before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025, but now a new report has revealed details about the next gaming console’s specifications. It was announced that in addition to graphics performance, the PS5 Pro will also include improvements to system memory and CPU clock speed.

Insider Gaming reports that the PS5 Pro’s system memory (576GB/s) is more efficient than the PS5’s (448GB/s), resulting in a 28% increase in bandwidth. According to reports, the Pro version of the console will feature the same AMD Zen 2 octa-core processor as the PS5, but with a high-frequency CPU mode that allows clock speeds of up to 3.85GHz. That’s a jump of 10 percent. 3.5GHz for PS5.

“High CPU frequency mode allocates more power to the CPU and slows down the GPU by about 1.5 percent, resulting in a reduction in GPU performance of about 1 percent,” the report said.

The new leak also mentions audio improvements to the PS5 Pro, saying: “The PlayStation 5 Pro’s ACV runs at a higher clock speed than the standard PlayStation 5, resulting in a 35% increase in ACM library performance.”

The report also claims that the PS5 Pro will have the same removable storage drive and 1TB of storage as the standard PS5 Slim.

Last week, a leaked PlayStation Developer Portal document revealed that the PS5 Pro will also receive GPU improvements. According to the leaked information, the new console will feature 45% faster rendering and “2-3x ray tracing (in some cases 4x)” compared to the PS5. The PS5 Pro also reportedly has up to three times the processing power of the PS5, or 33.5 teraflops of single-precision processing power compared to the PS5’s 10.28 teraflops. For comparison: The Xbox Series X claims to be the most powerful console of the current generation with 12 teraflops of processing power.

Sony hasn’t announced plans for a Pro version of the PS5, but the company released the PS4 Pro almost three years after the PS4’s initial release in November 2013. Therefore, the PS5 Pro will probably come to market sooner or later. . Last November, Sony released a slimmer and lighter version of the PS5 with slightly more internal storage and a removable drive. The PS5 Slim retains the processing power, graphics features and price of the original console.

Last month, industry analysts said Sony was preparing to launch the PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024 to boost sales of the console after an earnings call revealed that Sony would not be able to meet its PS5 sales targets Fiscal year 2023. . Analysts believe that Sony has such an intention. This is in preparation for the latest console ahead of the release of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6, scheduled for release in 2025. The PS5 has sold over 50 million units since its release in November 2020.
