Apple Releases M6 MacBook Pro with Modest Performance Upgrade
Apple has launched its M6 MacBook Pro, featuring a faster chip but retaining much of its predecessor's design. Priced at $1,999, it's positioned as an entry-level pro option.

NEW DELHI, Nov 6: Apple has released its new MacBook Pro equipped with the M6 chip, priced at $1,999. This model offers a slight performance upgrade while maintaining the familiar design of previous iterations.
The M6 chip features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, enhancing performance compared to the M5 chip. According to Apple, it is twice as fast at AI tasks and 11.7 times faster for 3D rendering than the M1 MacBook Pro. However, for general users, the improvements may not warrant an immediate upgrade from the M5.
The device includes the same 14-inch MiniLED Liquid Retina display and retains multiple ports including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and an SD card slot. The build quality remains robust, and the laptop weighs in at 3.4 pounds.
In benchmarks, the M6 MacBook Pro scored 4,458 points in single-threaded tasks and 19,077 in multi-threaded tests. Graphics performance also improved, with a Geekbench 6 GPU score of 64,115, compared to the M5’s 48,840.
Battery life remains strong, with the M6 lasting about nine hours and 35 minutes during testing. While the price has increased from $1,599 to $1,999, it still stands as Apple’s least expensive Pro model.
The M6 MacBook Pro is viewed as a solid choice for users engaged in content creation and demanding tasks, though it may not compete directly with the higher-end M5 Pro or Max chips priced at $2,499 and $2,899, respectively. For those already owning an M5 MacBook Pro, the advantages of upgrading to the M6 may not be compelling enough to justify the cost.
